Great idea if they can make it work. If they make it work it would seem to me that it would be the kind of work for younger people.

Will never happen. It will just make global warming worse and drilling holes will pollute the groundwater... heh

Finding a big chunk of precious metals would change the market significantly, if it was reported. Selling it on the black market would be much more profitable.

So if they find an asteroid and capture it... Hmmm. Lets say the asteroid is 200 x 100 feet and approximately 5% platinum. (My math sucks) lets say that's 1,000 cubic feet of platinum and at $1500/oz equals a gazillion dollars approximately. Now all they need is a 50 year plan to mine the asteroid, take the company public and sell shares. They are instantly the worlds richest people! I think we're 200 years away from mining an asteroid but now is the perfect time to scam billions =P

I read that they plan on putting an asteroids into a stable orbit around the moon by 2021. It may happen sooner than you think.
