You'll like New Mexico. We passed through there (Raton to be specific) on a trip to Colorado a few years ago and loved it.

We have one too. It is petrified palmwood. I looked it up and Mississippi's is petrified wood.

As it says under my avitar, I am from the Great State of Texas. NE Texas to be exact. I also call some (30-40 acres) (My Grandparent's home) of SE Oklahoma home too. So when we're watching college football, I vote for both the Sooners and the Longhorns. That is, until it's the big Sooner vs Longhorns game.

Southern indiana is where i call home, but ive been to many states behind the wheel of a truck.

Ive been to most of the states listed by previous posts minus the new england area, farthest north i went on the east coast was pa. Also never went to the pacific northwest either, or the dakotas or montana.

My fav states to drive in are AZ and NM, wide open and beautiful.

I'd rather my own son see me die on my feet as a free man, than watch him go, broken, into slavery.

Petrified wood, ha! I knew that, I just forgot! My mom digs that stuff up at the coal mine all the time.

BOOMER SOONER!
About half the states have official rocks, minerals, etc.

California's state rock is Serpentine. A couple of years ago one of our idiot legislators (Gloria Romero (D, L.A.), pushed a bill that would remove Serpentine because it contains asbestos and because of that having it as the official state rock was "insensitive" to people with lung cancers caused by asbestos. The bill failed (thank God!).

Mistletoe is not a fungus, it is a parasitic plant that grows on other plants/trees.

There are a lot of different ‘states’ in NY.

The one I live in now is the Adirondacks. It’s an Anglicized version of the Mohawk 'Hatirontaks'. It means ‘Bark Eater’. Although there are farms in the flat lands around us, the growing season here is usually July 24th. Last year I think it was between 12:43 and 1:13 in the afternoon, but I'm not a farmer.

So those of us who choose not the display some inconsequential detail you deem important should just log off the web to spare your feelings. I don't see that happening. And now that I know it bothers you, I'll be changing my location (city & state) weekly. Would alphabetical be okay or would you prefer I start with lowest population?

Also, wasn't there a Member's Map here somewhere?
