Default MADD awarded officer, shoots himself

while drinking

you can't make this stuff up

Quote:
An off-duty police officer who had been drinking accidently shot himself in the leg with his service weapon at an Orange County sports bar.

Justin McGowan, 28, was injured when his .38-caliber handgun went off in his pocket around 2 a.m. Sunday at the OC Sports Grill, located at 450 N. State College Blvd., according to the Orange Police Department.

McGowan has been honored by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) every year since 2008 for making hundreds of DUI arrests.

How do you think he was gonna get home? Surely he wasn't gonna drive!

Nothing criminal about a drunken negligent discharge in an establishment that specializes in selling alcohol? Really??

Maybe, if there is any justice in the world, our hero will get fired.

The MADD counter-insurgence group, DAMM (Drunks against Mad Mothers) will be awarding Mcgowen their highest award of service. The Hypi-crud Award!

MADD had great goals when they began, I think they reached and surpassed them but never realized that. Time for them to rethink their push. How about the PCFTOC, or Parents Careing For Their Own Children, sounds good to me!

A .38, in the pocket means snubbie revolver. How do you get a ND on a revolver in your pocket unless your hand, or someone elses hand, was in there playing with the trigger.

If this was Orange County, Fl., and he was sitting in the bar area, he was also breaking the law. (Oh, I forget, cops are the law)

You gentlemen have it all wrong. The officer in question here is a man so dedicated to the enforcement of the law, that when he discovered that he had been tricked into intoxication by nefarious evil-doers, purposely, and with extraordinary devotion to duty and the community, shot himself in the leg to prevent himself from endangering those he has sworn to protect.
