Sam Childers (born 1962) is a former motorcycle gang member who now dedicates his life and resources to rescue children in the war zone of South Sudan. Childers and his wife Lynn founded and operate 'Angels of East Africa', the Children's Village Orphanage in Nimule, South Sudan, where they currently have more than 300 children in their care.
A movie entitled: Machine Gun Preacher is about Childers and his aims.
I've seen it. It was the evolution of his altruism, which ironically almost took him down that made me appreciate it, as much as his past, the departure from drugs,
and a violent lifestyle, all for the sake of a cause that spoke to him. He was the epitome of a true 'spiritual warrior.' He is still out there in Africa.
