Trapper John it's not even close.

The genius of that show was when someone left they brought in a completely different type of character to replace them.

Season 4 episode 14 "DER TAG"

Frank Burns toe tag reads,"emotionally exhausted and morally bankrupt"

My favorite episode.

loved MASH! one of my favorite programs of all time. even though the show was funny, they still dealt with some deep subject material and issues.

the movie was pretty good as well. the actor that played Radar was the only one that was from the movie that went to the series.

until last year when someone posted a YouTube video of it, i never even knew there were words to the theme music.

The theme song, Suicide is Painless, is probably the most depressing theme song EVER.

Major Burns probably did the best acting job on the show.

Blake was hands down better than Potter. Morgan had some personal issues with politics that spoiled him for me as an actor.

The movie was better than the show, and the first shows were better than the later ones. Once Alan Alda took over the creative part of the scripts, it went down hill. He was best doing his bad Marks brothers impressions of one liners in the early years of the show.

Maclane Stevenson left the show to try to expand his revenue, when in fact his career took a nose dive, and he never made any real money after M.A.S.H.

In the later years, every show made a point of selling some politics, in a hidden way. It became less a comedy, and more and more a propaganda reel.

The actor BJ, really really really s%ck%d

All of this, is MHO

How many of you have seen the original movie? That was better than the show IMO, though I loved the show. Matter of fact I have the whole series here on DVD. My kids love it too.

Trapper was much better than BJ. I like Blake better than Potter.

Anybody remember that Harry Morgan appeared as a cuckoo General before he came on as Potter?

I agree with everything you said.

I do remember the nutty general.

Remember Flag? The CIA CID nut?

When Blake left, and Trapper left, and Burns left, it was nails in the coffin, when Radar left, so did I.

How is it, we has humans can make a comedy out of war, and enjoy it? That says something about our culture.

Today, I would rather watch George Carlon videos about gov and war, than watch mash reruns.

B.J. was a loyal family man and LOVED motorcycles!! ... 'nuff said!!
Col. Potter was the real backbone of the unit. Everyone respected him and his command. The boys even saluted him when they parted ways in the final episode.

PS- My son (11 years) is old enough now to grasp the comedy and concepts of the era and is developing an appreciation for it in reruns now.
