Default Lets talk cache's

I've been thinking about maybe putting a few caches in the dirt in the not so distant future, anybody have any "experience"? Something along the lines of ammo for guns I plan to have if the SHTF,along with maybe a cheap com-bloc milsurp handgun in case I get relieved of the guns I'd rather have for one reason or another.

Tips,tricks,or commentary?

Rent a back hoe, buy a container, get a cutting torch and a welding machine.
Drop said container in hole, build access hatch, bury container, disguise access.
Fill with preferred goodies.

PVC pipe and dessicant packets.
Bury it along a sprinkler system pipe

Then bury "red herrings" around the yard.

The biggest diameter of PVC you can find and still get endcaps for. Find a ten or twelve inch diameter of PVC pipe, Glue one endcap on, insert firearms, ammo, cleaning kit, first aid, food items, etc. Add a couple of those moisture sucker uppers like you find in shoeboxs and glue on the end cap. Bury the whole deal and remember where you put it. Don't worry about having a saw to open it when its time....You can cut through PVC with piggin' string or masons line...both of which should already be in the truck.

Yep, that PVC is good stuff. It can be used to build many things.

If need be, the PVC could be used later to make a spud cannon.

A friend of mine was going to get some sonar buoy tubes. He says they are a lot cheaper than buying the fittings for pvc. I don't know where he was going to get them from, though. Probably ebay.

I saw some water tight PVC tubes at a gun show not too long ago and they looked pretty solid, they had a threaded water resistant cap, about 2 1/2-3 feet long and about 8" wide so if I do burry a cache that's prob. What I'll use

You could vacuum seal pretty much anything before you put it in the pvc pipe, then it wouldn't matter if the pvc pipe didn't hold 100%.
