I would like to say something. For one, I have no problem following the rules. For two, I think the no swearing rule is reasonable.

However, given that we have been at war with Arabs for about a decade, I would wage enough people deployed to the Middle East that they know some Arabic, hence why I said 90%.
However, let's take a less common language, from a country that we haven't been at war with. Farsi, for example. A lot of you may not even know what country speaks Farsi. Well, its Iran. If I were to write the word دوست
, which is the Farsi word for friend, I'm willing to wager that 99.999999% of the forum population cannot read it, without looking it up.
Now, if I were to call Jaeger my دوست
, and then in the same sentence say that Jaeger " شگر خورده "
, well that wouldn't mean anything to probably anyone on this forum. Even if you looked it up, which I doubt you could, it would mean nothing. Because it is an idiomatic expression in Farsi which doesn't translate accurately to English. But I assure you, its very rude to a Farsi speaker.
I know this, because I know some Persians and they taught me a little.
What I'm getting at, is I could greet someone with سلام
, which means "hello" in Farsi, yet few people would understand it. But it could be inferred that it is a swear word, SIMPLY because we don't know what it means.
That being said, the only possible way to know if someone is swearing in a foreign language is if you know that language. Otherwise, who knows if he's swearing or not?
So should I not be allowed to type anything
in Farsi, and Jaeger can't type anything
in German, because a lot of people don't know what it says and it could be construed as a swear word?
... Clear as mud? ...
