laid a hero to rest today...
today we buried my grandpa who was a corporal in the Marine Corps during WWII. he earned his first of 3 Purple Hearts on Saipan just days before his 18th birthday, he also fought in Guam, Guadalcanal, Tinian, Iwo Jima, & Okinawa. He also earned a Silver Star for his action in Okinawa.
He was buried today along side his wife & 2 sons(one of whom was my dad) with full military honors, including 21 gun salute, thanks to the local American Legion posts of Turtle Lake & Riverdale, ND.
Besides being a Marine, he was also a lineman, electrician, cowboy, husband, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, & friend to all who knew him.
Despite all that, he still carried the mental scars of PTSD till the end, so i hope now at the age of 87, he can finally rest in peace. Love and miss you already Erwin Bruestle......
