I have several famous relatives that were significant, but with scandalous branches all up in my family tree...and they all started around this woodpile, a long time ago.

Of my ancestors the ones that I am most proud of are both grand grand something or others. One the pope put a price on his head and the other was hanged for whacking a cardinal. His son took out a tax collector.

We don't have any history prior to my great grandfather on my dads side and my great great grandfather on my mothers side due to all the records being destroyed in the Armenian genocide.

My family goes back to the 10th century and some were titled, however on investigation most were tirants and villains. In effect I am ashamed of my heritage as all men are born equal and the Brittage class system is now out dated.

On my mom's side, supposedly Romainian Gypsies. On my dad's side, supposedly Lord Horaitio Nelson, his "love child" daughter is supposedly my grandfather's grandmother or great grandmother.

FWIW, my step mom was put up for adoption (along with her brother and sister) after her Mom was widowed. Few years back, she had returned to family home, settling estate, packing up stuff- found a trunk in the attic that was her grandmother's. Never knew her- but contents of trunk were interesting. Seems Granny was a mail order bride, had been married twice before, had been a dance hall girl out west, and one of the items in the trunk was her .22 Baby Hammerless Revolver- with mother of pearl grips, and a half box of black powder .22 shorts.

Another ancestor was hanged for horse thieving in the old country.
