Today is the 150th Anniversary of the beginning of the Battle of Gettysburg.
R.I.P to all the men on both sides that died.
“Somebody has to speak for these people. Y'all got on this boat for different reasons, but y'all come to the same place. So now I'm asking more of you than I have before. Maybe all. Sure as I know anything, I know this—they will try again. Maybe on another world, maybe on this very ground swept clean. A year from now, ten? They'll swing back to the belief that they can make people...better. And I do not hold to that. So no more runnin'. I aim to misbehave.” Mal Reynolds Serenity/Firefly
Today is also the anniversaries of: San Juan Hill, the Somme, and El Alamein.
Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. - Sir Winston Churchill
Americans love to fight. All real Americans love the sting of battle. - General George S. Patton Sr.
Gettysburg is one of the battle fields I have visited a couple of times. Most of the field is as it was on the day of the battle. I am no expert tactition I was never a soldier, but when you stand on that battlefield you can really see the value of the high ground, and how amazingly brave the men on both sides were.
If you stand at the stone wall at the point the confederates were aiming for on the third day and look across the way at the woods you wonder how anybody made it back from that charge. It truly leaves you speechless.
