Default Joined the Navy Part 2 NUKE PROGRAM!

Welp fun story.

Got a call from the Navy recruiters who had me as an AECF...They said a bunch of Nuke guys were down there and wanted to talk to me.

Got down there...took a test which they helped me on....and then bammo I apparently qualified for the NUKE program of the Navy. 21,000 or more bonus so that's 11,000 plus for me....and I go in as an E3 and earn a shizload more money.

It's not 100 percent but because of my clean record the Nuke guys who are surprisingly laid back said I didn't need to worry.

Also...the Nuke guys were funny as hell. Smart yet well guys....hell at one point a guy walked outside to smoke and then came back and tapped on the door to get the other nuke guy to pay attention...did it about three times the other Nuke guy held up a finger like "Wait a minute..." Then finally the one tapping stuck his head in, "Hey what do you think of cowboy boots and short jean skirts?" And the guy holding up his finger got up immediately and walked outside.

I laughed my butt off.

And now I'm laughing more. Now I only have to do about 8-12 years and I can get a job at a farking Nuclear Power plant or any power plant in the country our out of country and make 100,000 or more a year no matter what. Hell I could even get a job testing water values at a farking beer plant and make 120,000 dollars a year.

I'm set for life if I stick to this....that math is a barch though...and I hate math.

I'm crossing my fingers guys hopping I get a Nuke contract

Ah well. At least I'll be rich.....as long as they don't tax me to death.

I was in the navy. In boot camp the joke was that the nuke guys were the smartest...dumbest guys in the navy so be prepared to get made fun of by your RDC's.

remember one thing though those recruiters get credit for every person they get to sign up, not every person that gets to be the rate they wanted to be. Your a nuke guy right now, but about your 4th or 5th week of boot camp you'll go finalize all your paperwork for what rate you will really be, they'll do background checks and all kinds of other stuff. About 1/3 of the guys from my division ended up leaving bootcamp doing a different job than they signed up for so make sure you do your research and get a few backup jobs or else they will assign you based on the Navy's needs, not yours.

I knew a guy who enlisted to be an Intelligence Specialist, guaranteed, blah blah blah, his little brother was adopted from a foreign country and had only just become a US citizen. When it was all said and done, he is now a flippin WELDER! he got a 95 on his ASVAB and is now working construction for the navy.

Congratulations Jiro!! It's all gravy after you get through boot camp. Keep in mind that boot camp is just a mental thing. Worked to death and sleep deprived while being with the same diverse group of morons for a few months on end will drive anybody off the edge.

You might just like the navy enough to stay til you retire.

Way to go Jiro! And if you make it to the Submarine Service you won't need suntan lotion!

Get her dirty, then clean her so she starts to respect you. When her trust is complete, she will serve you well for a lifetime!

Default Listen up Jiro, and f###ing listen good!

MY Son CPO Matt Bowers is a nuke. He has been in 12 years, 6 years on Subs, teaches Physics at the Nuke program in Charleston SC. NOW, pour all that BS those recruitors told you down the $hitter. IF you get in the program, you must have it in writting, signed, and notorized. I was a Submariner. They will tell you that you will be frigging models to get you to sign. It is 75% BS 25% fact. If it is not carved in stone that you are going nuke or be released from the Navy, you will be screwed, if you are not one smart young man. And you D@mn sure better be good in math, all math.

Actually I've hated math forever.

But it's not the kind of hate that I can't do it.

It's the kind of hate that I know it...I can do it...I just didn't want to when it came down to it.

Now I want to. Now I will do. I will succeed. I will not stop and I will try and get myself a college education ASAP while I'm in.

I plan to go all the way to Captain. It's my dream.
