Here's a photo of me and the Jeep that I was using in Chicago during the riots in the 60's and the democratic convention in 1968.

We are kind of shut down for the summer. Too hot out there. 110-120 in the shade if you can find shade. We should be at higher altitude but medical issues are keeping us home. I take the jeep out in the dirt every couple of weeks to keep things running. We still hope to get up the mountain or out to Lake Powell for a month but right now it is wishful thinking.

249 VC was toast so I swapped in a 242. Picked up a little MPG.

Forgot, there is a KOR bar for the front shackles. Warn clevis in back (Class 3 hitch). I'll proly yank the Tupperware off the back too, and go 33's...........if it lasts another yr.

It's just a work shuttle and deer hauler. Prefer the old body style and would like 2 of them.
One with a BB and 31's, for daily driving (6 cyl) and a 98 with 360, doorless and beefy axle swap to thrash.

Kids in college says dad has to drive crap for a few more yrs.
You wont spook any seniors around here with a high lift unless they are visitors. Our Jeep club has members over 80 years old and I am getting close.

Me and a few buds from the barracks went out to Joshua Tree and decided to see what a stock Jeep is made out of. First, I would like to say that I am extremely impressed. The trail we took was Geology something or another and is rated at easy to moderate. There were some decent sized rocks but my Jeep handled them a lot better than expected. Never got stuck even though I thought I would a few times. I did though, get a flat but that was partially my fault for not looking where I was going and going a tad too fast.. Oh well, lesson learned.. Anyways, here's my list of what I'm needing in my eyes at least in order of importance

1) lift kit (have a 2.5" Teraflex at the post office now, just need to pick it up)
2) bigger tires, probably 33 or 35 All Terrains and an air compressor
3) a high jack lift
4) rock sliders
5) front bull bar
6) extended skid plate
7) winch
8) lights
9) rear bumper

I already have a med kit and flashlight

If y'all have any advice on what is needed or brands, I'm all ears. I don't wanna break the bank but don't want to skimp out. Here's some pics of what I'll most likely be dealing with here and at Big Bear Attachment 144535Attachment 144536

America doesn't need a Marine Corps, they want one
Tow strap no metal
Tree strap
Block for the winch - can double your pull
Pad to lay over winch cable - can double as ground tarp.
Clevis x2
Hydraulic jack - forget the high lift
Pads for the jack
Limb saw
Tie wire with pliers
Gorilla tape
Assorted sizes of bolts and nuts
CB radio
GPS
72 hour bag
Fire extinguisher permanently mounted where it is accessible.

Zip ties and electrical tape!!

There is this new silicone tape that is self vulcanizing out there too. Have been meaning to grab a roll and do some tests like putting a hole in a hose and see if it will hold the fluid in.

The M151 wasn't a Jeep.

Mines dead. Think crank sensor, kind of a pain to get to. Try tomorrow and if no go or I just get too p*ssed off, have it towed in.

Always got my CJ's home. Friggin' hate this newer crap.

Hell, I still prefer roll up windows, manual locks, manual hubs and T case. Less stuff to go wrong.

Haven't been on here much and this has been the reason why. After years of use and some abuse and one of the hardest rolls( it broke the front Dana 44 in half when it landed) I have seen a Jeep take he decided it needed some of my body work. Cut it off and tube it. Body panels just get beat up. Not finished but getting close.

Rockratt, I have a question for ya and really for all you Jeepers. How do you feel about 3.73 gears in a '11 JKU running on a 3.5" lift with an upgraded driveshaft? Plan to get 4.88 around October but until then..
