I know a guy who burned his cabin down that way. he had heard that if you live trap a rat and singe the hell out of it with fire it will go back to the nest and drive the whole colony out of the building. He used an oil drum to trap the rat in and did the old brake cleaner and lighter flame-thrower to singe it. Damn rat caught on fire, jumped out of the drum (he was highly mitivated at that point) and ran inside the wall.

Game over. Rat dies but still wins.

Would be much cooler with Grizzly Bears.

I hate Rats, but I hate any rodent ...they are NOT cute, cuddly, warm, snuggly, they are not pets to be kept in a cage with a wheel that goes round and round and then that cage accidentally gets left open and its "where's pet rat where is he" we better find him before the dog does...and then little Suzy wants to know what happened to her little furry friend.....and you have to explain why the dog has a weird tail sticking out of his mouth....thats all I got to say on that.

I live in a log house and those sucker really do love drilling holes in the porch rails and eves of the house and porch ceilings. I have a couple of Carpenter Bee traps that work pretty well (pictures included) but my main defense is hand to bee combat. In the pass I have kept a tennis racket on each of the porches and its not unusual for me to launch 25 or 30 bees a day. This year I'm going to try a racket ball racket. Its a little shorter and should reduce my lock time. I think I will keep my eyes pealed at the flea markets for a couple of badminton rackets too. Light should be faster and better and they have a tighter weave so the bee heads shouldn't get stuck as much. I have tried shot cartriges in my Ruger Single Six but thats pretty iffy. Oh and if I catch one going in a hole I stick a golf tee up his butt and caulks over it. Wish me luck and if your in the area in the next two months, stop by and grab a racket. Remember, black faced bumble bee.... good. White faced bumble bee.... bad. Ok I got to go to the front porch.

Ok the battle is joined and I just scored my first kill of the year.
I would think one of these would be sporty. http://bugasalt.com/

I bought one. The power and range are pretty limited, but it can be entertaining. I don't think it would put down a big bee.

Yeah, you can try. I have a nice little product from Barnes I would use on bears.

I hate rats too, but I've always thought field mice were cute.

So, on my way to work in the Miata, top down loving the sun, I see a Fiat 500 at the corner lot and say aloud "dang! that is one tiny car".
