I'm not opposed to the class at all, its not like its hard...

I'm sure that Illinois won't recognize out of state permits though.

Interesting. I saw the article in the Chicago Sun-Times and as of yesterday every single comment was in support of CCW. I don't live in Chicago or even Illinois but I do business there regularly. I suspect there is a lot more support for CCW than the politicos let on.

I honestly wonder how "blue" Illinois really is sometimes. I wonder if the Chicago Machine is somehow managing to successfully suppress the rest of the state. If this latest ruling is any indication, may the folks in Cook County are starting to lose some leverage.

BINGO! Give that man a prize!

Here in Indiana if you go in and ask for a CCW permit and you have not been convicted of a felony you just pay $150.00 and wait for the mailman to bring it.

I know of several people who have gotten the permit and have never held a gun in their life.

I would not object to a form of testing to see that I am at least capable of handling a firearm in a safe manner but then who is to decide how compitent I need to be?
When I took my class (ohio), there were two who didn't pass the shooting test, which required half of the shots fired to hit the black circle at seven yards, circle was eight inches I think. Whoa. I mean whoa. I was pissed because three went outside the circle during rapid fire drills, in my .38 snubbie.

The Mayor of Chicago has vowed to support a strong fight against the CC in Ill. He is well connected Hot Wired to DC so the money will flow. It would be a great victory if the citizens of Ill. could win this battle. The win in Wisc. was a big set back for the antigun movement.

Emanuel said he helped Bill Clinton pass the Assault Weapons Ban. Emanuel said he gave the NRA its first defeat in 30 years. He stated he is ready to defeat the NRA in Ill. Bill Clinton said years later he lost the battle with the NRA. He said it cost him a major set back in his second term.

you still have "ccw" but no average person can get one.
I think Jon is right. This is Illinois. They aren't going to let it be easy to get a CCP.

I think its great, States are reaffirming the BOR's and its about time, Right to work is another no brainer! Sad that there are any litmus tests at all, there is no legit precedence for a single "qualification standard" other than citizenship.
