My standpoint, it's a good idea to announce that you have a gun before you open fire. At least you can say you gave them an op to leave, the jury doesn't have to know you were firing as you were speaking.

Castle doctrine + unwanted intrusion in my home = dead scumbag

seems to be a pretty simple formula.

no announcement necessary...why give 'em a chance to defend themselves?

If you didnt want to get dead, you shouldnt have broken into my house.

It goes back to my theory '' Its always good to have a iffy gun '' for situations like this . You know , the gun you gave them after the fact before the boys in blue got there . I may be stereo typing here but Id bet the farm they will never be upstanding members of society . Im going to see it as they had ill intent by entering my home not knowing if I was there or not , how was I supposed to know they ment me no harm ? I shot first and asked questions later ...

Now whether or not I could draw fast enough during a hold up or mugging is a different beast . I have been having a nightmare that the plastic trigger on my taurus pt111 breaks while getting attacked and the gun is useless but that too is a topic for another thread
