Default 'Idiot Redneck'? hanging...(not the victim!)

Hello-

Nutty stuff like this provides the perfect pretext for the government
to paint everyone (here) with a 'wide brush' and proceed with a crackdown
on so-called 'extremists' (not us, but we'd be included in their definition):

Grisly hanging of Census worker: an antigovernment act?

The discovery of Sparkman's body Sept. 12 in the deep woods of eastern Kentucky – hanging from a tree with the word "fed" scrawled on his chest – not only is a grim reminder of the everyday risks that door-to-door workers face on the job. It also has the government again worried that disaffection and anger with Washington may be morphing into extremism, even domestic terrorism, and may be directed at government representatives. Sparkman's death has been called "an apparent homicide."

Eastern KY is in the Appalachian Region of the US. This has never been a safe area for a federal agent to travel alone.

I just "know" the media and gun grabbers will somehow link this despicable act to gun owners. Seems to me I recall something from Obama about rural folks "clinging to guns and religion." Let's hope there is a quick arrest and conviction of the low life scum who did this.

I have a good friend who grew up in Elizabethtown & schooled in Louisville, and she also has strong opinions about her neighbors on the eastern edge of KY. I personally haven't spent much time in that area.

It will probably turn out to be more than a random killing of a "fed" though.

An obvious suicide. To intentionally go into that region w/out back up is a suicidal act.

If you ain't from the area, you better watch your tail. My wife was born and raised in Knott Cty, KY. Took years for her family to accept me totally since I am from NC. Now we go back and we are both outsiders to alot people. A fed or cop in that area is asking for trouble and sometimes if they are from that area they still get trouble.

My father was born and reared in Bell county Kentucky, I'm from n.e. Ga. and have lived in N.C. and s.w. Va. Folks from the hills are some of the most kind and sharing in the country, but if you are a stranger, you must earn their trust and outsiders are certainly looked on with extreme distrust. Most of those folks have never been outside their home area for long. I do miss those hills. I hope the guilty party is quickly apprehended, the better for all the people living in there. They certainly do not want any more crap laid on them they don't deserve.

Jeff

Revenuers are a rare breed around here. Why the 'Redneck' comment?
