Was it one of the "rattleless" rattlesnakes? I hear stories of a genetic mutation causing some such snakes to be incapable of developing rattles.

This potential rattlesnake had no end, it was removed. So my belief is it had a rattle, and the de-rattler took it home as a trophy.

The head was connected to the top end of the picture. It looks mangled like it had been shot with some shot type round.

Your in Utah right? I'm guessing it was a Western Diamondback Rattlesnake. NOT something you want to get bitten by.

The markings look just like him. Cept mine were kinda dusty, as I may have driven over it when I pulled up to the place to shoot.
