+10 ROFL. That's that best, serves her right, she should have listened. I'm glad I have a wife that has a healthy respect for firearms.

She follows direction about like my wife does. She wanted to shoot my 1911 one day, so I showed her how to hold it where the safety was and how to cock it and all the general safety stuff. She cocked it, raised the gun up and before she fired it I noticed that she had her thumb on her trigger hand up behind the slide. I said what don't fire, but she went ahead and fired anyways. I thought she was gonna cry, I've never seen a thumb bend that far back and not break.

LOL - it's not just women that do stupid things - I had a friend who did that exact same thing - luckily it was with my .380, and luckily he was one of those double-jointed people whose thumbs can bend backwards!

I like to smell my guns. Ask Bear as he saw me do that when I went down to Kentucky. I like the smell of the gunpowder from a gun I just shot and I also like the smell of a clean gun just after it's been cleaned and oiled.
Why not just show her how to properly handle a gun and include her in the sport. Also, what was the gun doing sitting on an outside table like that unattended where anyone could have come across it.
