Default I need a new wood splitter .

My budget is about $2400 , I got through about ten chords a winter and I need something easy or repair and dependable . What would by and why .

If I lived near you I would do it for free with an axe its one of my favorite things to do.

I have a troybuilt 27 ton, I do about 3-4 cords a year, have had it about 5yrs, has the honda engine on it.

I am very pleased with it ...Knock on wood

We'll , I have a minor handicap and just can,t do the maul and wedge thing anymore .

Sounds like I have the same one Eagle has. Its a Troy-bilt 27 ton. You can use it horizontal like the picture or pull a pin and flip it up vertical which is the way I use mine so I don't have to pick the log up. I got mine at Lowes building supply and I think it was $1200/1400 but I can't remember the amount for sure.

yep, that's it, I think I payed 1400-1500 for mine at Lowes also

I might have paid round there too but I can't remember. Its never gave me a problem. Going to be firing it up soon too. I already got the trees picked out and all within 100 yards of the house.

Make sure you look at the control setup. I've seen a couple where you have to stand next to the motor to run the controls. I like having the motor on the opposite side of the beam. Horizontal/Vertical is a must for me.
