Kytowboater, you are truly a good man. Everything you post about your wife is so loving. Lucky, lucky her. I am searching for someone like you.......but about 30 years older.

Some places still cook eggs, but some are getting THOSE pre-cooked.

All the flavor of a styrofoam coffee cup.

Think it is about time for some hashbrowns, country ham, biscuits, and eggs over easy. Coffee is brewing- where's that skillet?
I may get flamed for this, but I like the Waffle House for what you want.

LOVE the Waffle House!!! Lot's of meatless options for me. My favorite is the Egg/Cheese Melt plate with the hashbrowns scattered, smothered, covered, diced, peppered, and capped. On one audit, I ate at like 12 of the 14 locations then present in Gulfport/Biloxi area over the course of a week, some more than once. When I accidentally signed up to teach four nights per week instead of two this one summer I probably ate WH five or six times a week for the Summer. One night after a recent truck purchase, a guy walked in the WH and asked loudly "whose Dodge truck is that out there?". I waved and was given the life history and preferred maintenance recommendations for my new truck by the guy who had traded it in. Heck, once when on a roadtrip with some college buddies, we actually had to explain grits to a yankee in our group.

Wow!

I could have wrote this... and as often as you and I disagree... that's a bit scary!

Had my Father until I was 38 though... and my hand was upon his chest when to he took his last breath... so I can't complain, just wish he'd had enough time to meet his newest grandchild.

Last night, the wife and I were sitting in bed lamenting the fact that "Nick at Night" is no longer the old Black and White re runs of Dobbie Gillis, Mr. Edd, and Patty Duke... Hmm

...and I too miss the Military, not so much the stopping to ring the blood out of my socks but the rest of it, the bonds, the esprit de corps, oh yeah.

Tack

I miss the big family gatherings on Sundays for dinner, first @ my mother's house, then later @my mother-in-law and f-i-l's house. If you are fortunate enough to be @ that stage in your life where these things are regular, cherish them!
