You guys are ripping my heart out. I haven't smelled anything for over 40 years. I was working in a laser research lab, cleaning out a platinum crucible using Aqua Regia, a mixture of nitric acid and hydrochloric acid, and some imbecile was clowning around and bumped into me. It jostled the crucible and splashed the acid into my face and up into my nose. After a few months the damage was "healed", but the scar tissue left me so I have had no sense of smell since that day. I was wearing goggles, so I'm lucky I can still see.
So enjoy the wonderful smells of all the good things. It is a blessing, indeed.

Most everything we experience is a blessing, whether we choose to recognize the blessing or not depends on our attitude.

My sense of taste is very limited, too. I guess smell and taste go together. Stuff with an extreme taste, like jalapenos I can taste (or feel), or hot chili, but I can't identify much stuff by taste if I don't already know what it is.

Thanks. I've pretty well gotten used to it, but I miss the stuff I used to like. It has a bit of danger to it, too, because I can't tell by the taste or smell if I am eating something that is spoiled.
(Maybe that will be a blessing if I ever have to be homeless and live on garbage). But don't let me spoil this thread. I'm kinda sorry I put in my 2 cents worth. So resume with the good smells, please.

Steaks on an outside grill right as dusk turns to dark. It's quiet, no wind, and the smell of the searing steaks linger in the air.

New cars/trucks

Fresh baked goods. I have the good, or maybe not so good, fortune to live near a bakery.
