I hate that I'll be paying for those people's medical bills because they are too lazy to take care of themselves

I hate that pinheads are allowed to do risky things, such as riding motorcycles with no helmet, or free climb (rock climbing without ropes and safety gear), and when they get maimed we all have to cover the cost of their "personal" choice.

One of the pinheads I used to know casually, dumped his scooter after drinking a few too many beers, and bounced his head on the pavement a few times. After close to three hundred thousand in medical bills, (that the county paid for), he ended up a mentally impaired paraplegic. Which means he will be on social security, and medicare/medicade the rest of his life. Which we pay for.

Another clown I knew decided he was skilled enough to free climb, after climbing for less than a year. Those of us who had been climbing for years knew he wasn't and told him so. He peeled off the rocks at about sixty feet above the deck. Between the life flight, and hospital stay the county paid almost a million dollars on his care to end up with a paraplegic with a functional iq in the mid sixties, who needs constant care, which again we pay for.

Personally, I think that if you ride without a helmet, climb without ropes, or do other dangerous things without making an effort to use protective gear, that choice should be considered a defacto Do Not Resuscitate order, and we quit expending a quantity of money greater than they would have in taxes on people who have elected to do high risk things.

I won't argue that adults don't have the right to do risky things. I will always argue that they have no right to take risks that we all have to pay for.

I'd rather my own son see me die on my feet as a free man, than watch him go, broken, into slavery.

That sounds like a plan. Allow nature to take it's course, eh?

Jigs-n-fixture :
You are on the right track but not quite there yet . You can visit www.aynrand.org for answers and even online philosophy courses and/or read Atlas Shrugged . The problem is socialism . The solution is capitalism .

Jigs-n-Fixture:

Would you mind if I sent the following quote to a few of my retired co-workers? It's a classic. I'll keep it as an anonymous quote, but if they bother to search for it, it will come back to your post.

No go right ahead. I'm pretty vocal about having that opinion.

I've got that one too, plus a few others. If you like to read, read his biography. He had an interesting life, sort of messed up, but interesting.

I hate Hollywood remakes and reboots of franchises. Can we please leave the classics the classics and stop screwing them up?!

I haven't read that much about him other than his wiki bio. Definitely a messed up life. That for sure.

Best musician to live in my mind, though.
