Don't give anyone the power to insult you. It's really very liberating.

Plus, I can live with redneck....I've been called worse. I say this to everyone who tries.

It makes me feel like a dirty person who lives in a trailer with a dog pack, has a mud pot for a front lawn, can't spell worth a damn and who has more car parts on the lawn than blades of grass. We have some of those people around here, and most of them do drugs and are horribly uneducated.

Now honestly, when I think of a gun lover I think of the supposed retired military personal or someone who thinks old fashioned. I consider them hillbillies or woodsman. I prefer the term woodsman. In fact, a book in my series will be entitled, "The Woodsman".

My question is, do you all feel the same way?
Not sure, but you might need some new friends. You must live in one of the liberal bastians in Ohio. Almost all of my friends own guns, and I am in Ohio. Even them city slickers who could never survive if they had to hunt for food.

I call my husband a redneck when he gets angry and starts yelling at me with his Texas accent, not because he's a gun enthusiast. I've been a Yankee all my life and never once thought guns had anything to do with being a redneck.

I love being a redneck. I live on a horse ranch and work my a$$ off. When someone refers to me as a red neck it means they agree that I work hard. There is no shame in that.

Now call me a "hick" thats a different story, that is like so many other racial slurs that can cause the speaker horrible facial, gut and kidney pain.
"A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks."

When DZScubie was working in DC (2004 to 2008) and wearing civies, he would wear his boots, hat, and turquoise bolo tie to work in the Reagan Bldg. He would get some strange looks on the Metro and was on the receiving end of comments about "not wearing a real tie" from some in the offfice. Luckily his boss had been assigned out here for a while and stood up for him. He allegedly was heard to say that Scubie was from Texas and that was a real tie to him. Be comfortable in your individuality. The only person you have to answer to is yourself, and maybe your mother.

Default Redneck

This might fit in with your discussion(s)....

If they call it tourist season, how come we can't shoot them?

And not everyone in California is ghey or liberal.

But we sure get the abuse.

As a transplanted Yankee (left Minnesota in 1972), I'm damned proud to be called a redneck!
