Default I ain't right .....!

About two weeks ago , I was out cutting fire wood . It had rained for a few days and with all the leaves and rain , things were very slippery . I must a fell on my azz seven times , sheeeeez...! The one time , I felt some thing pop , my right wrist . I'd been shoveling snow , cutting and splitting wood , caring tons of wood pellets and didn't even know I broke my right wrist .

They gave me a new fang led brace , Velcro and removable so as soon as I got home today , back to cutting fire wood ! I don't like pain but we got some really bad weather coming , I need fire wood ! Five days of below zero nights , I NEED fire wood . I have enough to get through this cold spell so all things and life is good !

I need a warm spell , just a few days would be nice ......

Dango, you need a kerosene heater or two to get you through this! Chopping/splitting wood is great for economy, and the smell of burning oak or hickory is wonderful, but at some point, a gallon of kerosene keeping you warm for a day is the way to go. I found that if one lights up the kerosene heater outside (or in a fireplace) and lets it get going, then carefully carrying it inside prevents the stink. Same with turning it off.

I don't use them regularly (they are emergency heating), but did in the past and my dogs loved them. A pot of water sitting on top also was wonderful for keeping the humidity good and for coffee, hot chocolate, etc.

Give yourself a break, heal, and stay warm!

Dango, when the snow melts and you can get out, invest in a K-heater and several gallons of K. If nothing else, it gives you an option. I have three K-heaters and about 20 gallons of K. Don't intend to use them. but it is comforting to know they're available should things get nasty.

RJ makes a good point with the kerosene heater, its much less maintenance than wood. Starting and stopping is what develops the most smoke.

As an option, buying wood delivered takes much of the work out of it.

Because of where we live , delivery is out of the question $$$$$ ....? Not an option . Also financially , I all but ruined myself trying to take care of my wife's handicapped mother . I about broke the bank , sheeeez ....! Not to dwell but it's just time to man up , that's exactly what I plan on doing , Growl......
