This should hit every email inbox to show how stupid we have become!
very good RiverRat! if wasn't so close to the truth it would be funny. but it is very close to how things have become.
I just recently graduated high school not too many years ago and what's sad is, that is absolutely correct.. We've become a bunch of wimps..
I wish it was 1952. :(
I wish it was 1750.
It is funny and disgusting at the same time. This is what happens whenever a bunch of whiney pansies are let in charge of our society. You cant even take a damn pocket knife to school anymore.
Oh, how true it is.
Soooo much truth in this
Hell, you don't need to go back to 1952 for most of that. 70s maybe. In the 80s it seemed like the change started to accelerate.
I got called into the office for taking a decongestant (from the factory packaging) in 1983 (I was Class of 84 FWIW). Nothing came of it aside from a short lecture with the accompanying frowns. Nowadays, fugetaboutit, suspension at the absolute minimum if you hadn't checked it in through the nurse's office. Possible expulsion if you're on someone's... excrement list.
Everyone carried pocket knives too. I can't ever recall a stabbing. Occasionally though, someone would cut themselves (never seriously) screwing around.
Zero Tolerance laws have really helped, haven't they? Yep, no judgment required.
In the 70's in Oklahoma I always had a 30-30 and a 22 in the gunrack in the back window of my truck. The shotgun and fishing pole was behind the seat. I never locked the truck and never had a problem!, I even had a teacher b borrow the 30-30 because it was a Marlin and he wanted to compare it to his dads 94 before buying one. Can you imagine that happening now? We'd both be in jail.
