As much as you can afford. They aren't making any more of it.

I don't ask for much, but 1000 acres sure would be nice in Missouri, near the river bottoms.
Good rich soil for farming, along with some rolling hills and timber for grazing cattle,oh and we can't forget some of the best hunting and fishing around.

I'd love to have 100-200 acres. I don't need it though. Purely recreational unless I decide to have some cattle.

I've got almost 18 acres with 8.75 of it being tillable. The timber is heavily ravined but accessable to 4-wheeler. I cut wood to heat my house that is not on the property but 10 miles away. My FIL, son and I all deer hunt on the property and it feels 18 acres is as small as I want to go.

How much land does a person need? I think they need whatever amount makes them feel comfortable (say an amount between 100 to 1000 acres for me). Kinda like buying a firearm, whatever one you feel comfortable with!

Always more, the family has about 15 acres and we're looking to buy more. Cattle like room. And I have to have a place to shoot

We have about 3.1 acres; about one half cleared and the other half wooded, in western Pennsylvania. However, the wooded area backs up to another 100 or so acres of wooded land. My wife's mother lives across the road, and she has about 3 acres, so there is 6 acres we have the use of.
There are an abundance of deer and turkey in the woods; however, if a SHTF situation occurred, I suspect this area would be hunted out fairly quickly. We do have two wells on the property, and Cindy's mother's land has two. If we had to, I believe we could grow enough on the combined 6 acres to feed us. I was planning on putting in some fruit trees this summer, but didn't get around to it. Mebbe next summer. Of these 6 acres, we have to mow about 4.5 of them, but with a commercial grade 62" Husqvarna and a 52" Dixon mower it's not too bad a job, but I really wouldn't want to have more to take care of. More woods would be nice.

I do have a 100 yard range set up on out property; I could expand it to 200 yards if I wanted to.

One of the things I love about being out in the boonies is that I don't have to listen to the Thugmobiles and their obnoxious "music". Nor do I have to hear the Ghetto Bird fly by at all hours chasing the Thugmobiles.

With a quarter a million acres you'd have all the quiet you want along with the room to raise whatever you fancy.
