In current times, a man does not need to own land. Most home land is ornamental and recreational.

But a man with a heart needs some land for his family.

Well, I'm not a man but my ideal would be 5 acres.

As much as he wants.

Personally, I want enough to construct Hickock45's range and enough for a 2500' grass strip.

I've got 10 but it is in the middle of a 120 acre farm that I have full run of. Seems 120 is about right for privacy and hunting and recreation, 10... not much. In my area little 5,10 acre chunks with a house are valued very high by the assessor and the property taxes are absurd. I pay more for my little 10 acres and house then is paid for the entire 120 acre farm. Shame property taxes have to have such a big part in what a person can own.

My ideal would be whatever I could afford. No limit. In reality, I have 3.2 acres, but to answer the OP's question directly, none.

There is a nice little 1 acre corn field for sale just down the street from us, the whole parcel is 30+- acres. $165K. Sign was only up for 2 weeks before it was under agreement with a developer. So disappointed......
