I was 21 and single when I arrived in the PI - those were the days. Ice cold San Miguel and hoardes of LBFMs - truly heaven on earth...

hogger, not too long ago I was in a similar place. And sparing most of the details, I found myself single for the first time since high school, some 20 years ago. Getting back into anything after a 20 year lull is intimidating, much less getting back into the dating "scene". However...... I am much smarter now than I was 20 years ago too. Smart enough to know that girls aren't the scary creatures that plague the fantasies of a young man's mind. Once I came to the realization that "who cares what they think" and didn't let that burden my mind, I was free to have fun.
The main thing is, get up, get dressed, and go out. Use whatever metaphor you want, but you'll shoot a bull's eye if you don't pull the trigger. And to take it a little further, shoot out of your league. I used to chat up the hottest girl the crowd. And if she told me to take a hike, well whatever, she was out of my league anyway....... And if she didn't tell me to take a hike........sweet!
