I'm with hossfly, he showed it, his mistake, and could have been charged.

On a side note, near me in Lima, ohio; lowes, home depot, and menards all built stores within a mile of each other. This is probably to take each others business/ corporation games. Home depot went out of business, but still advertises on the local radio stations. A coworker called/ wrote the corporate office, and their reply was there is a store in Defiance, an hour away! That kind of thinking proves there isn't any...

In Iowa your allowed to open carry if you choose unless the store has a sign posted otherwise.

I believe someone posted addendum to the original post, clarifying home depo's position on carrying weapons in their stores.

I do almost all my big purchases at Menard's unless they don't have what I needed.

I also received this e-mail response from Home Depot a few minutes ago.

"Thank you for contacting The Home Depot.

The Home Depot does not prohibit anyone who is legally permitted to
carry firearms from entering our stores, provided the firearms are
carried in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

I thought the associate over-stepped their pay-grade.

Home Depot has always supported the US Vet and has no issue with legal carry. If you are a veteran and not taking advantage of the Home Depot 10% discount you're missing out on one of the few "thank you for serving" benefits available to us.

home depot doesnt give military discounts in conn.
i found that out.
i asked why and they said there arent any military bases near by. (true, closest one is west point n.y. and navy groton on the other end.) conn is mostly reserve bases.
i asked them what about actdu guys home helping family on furlough here...he gave me the deer in headlights look.
went to lowes...10% for military.

btw...sorry to say...concealed means concealed.
theres no such thing as a wardrobe malfunction with CCW. ya gotta treat it like a booby. keep it covered!

It is on their website that it's at all locations

A year round 10% discount up to a maximum $500 at all U.S. locations to active duty personnel, reservists, retired or disabled veterans and their immediate families. Must present a valid military ID. A 10% discount is also offered to all other military veterans on Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day and Veterans

If yours isn't, sounds like you have a rogue manager.

I try to avoid these places as much as possible, lumber I can get a better quality with better service at a lower price at a local lumberyard, as well as shingles, fastners, and any other stuff they carry I will shop at Menards for certain things that I am buying in large quantity when they have a low price or sale, I have been disappointed with many things sold by these big stores, I am currently remodeling a bathroom in a duplex my mom owns, I got a 4ft shower stall from Menards and framed it in, it was a pain to install as it wasn't made to the spec it claimed, had to be shimmed and leveled and was a major pain in my a$$. My buddy is a plumber and swears HD's plumbing fixtures are closer to the quality you get from a plumbing supply house. The only thing I really buy at HD is power tools as they carry most all the major brands, Menards carrys surprisingly little in tools, only 1 or 2 brands I am not a fan of and then a couple house brands.

I try to support my local material yards with as much business as possible. Home Depot does NOT have the best prices ... they do NOT have the best materials ... they do NOT have good customer service.
