It is the fact that as your heart rate climbs (from adrenaline or exertion), you can easily manipulate the pump action because it uses large muscle groups and gross motor skills. Manipulating a safety button is a fine motor skill that may be lost in such a situation.
Try running a half mile and then threading a needle. It does not work 99% of the time. Fine motor skills and complex motor skills go away when you most need them. Techniques and tactics should rely on gross motor skills that do not seem to be reduced with stress.
Exactly. I could care less what the dude hears. A matter of functionality for me under stress, not intimidation. Like I said, pick it up and rack it. No further action required to get it ready to shoot.
