Default Help on deciding something.

Question. Friday, I'll be parting ways with a current rifle of mine.

I'll have 300-350 to spend on a new firearm, which of course I could wait it out for another trip on the boat, and have 500-60 to a new rifle OR handgun.

That's the thing. I'm really want a lever action to hunt with. However, I have a nice .270 bolt action I bought to hunt with.

I would really like a single action revolver, but want something I can comfortably carry if I wanted, and to be a joy to shoot at the range. My 3.5 1911 is my only handgun, and has some oomph.

Thoughts? I think it's best to wait another month and save 1-3 extra hundred to it. That would open my options.

So, I leave it upon the jury of my peers. Lmao, what sounds like a good thing? I have a single action kick, a lever action kick, and really want a nice, well decent 1911.

check out either the RIA or the MetroArms American Classic Commanders. right about in your price range and are a quality pistol for the price. here is mine from stock to modified. IIRC, i paid about $600 for mine when i bought it about two years ago.

not any direct knowledge, but in all honesty, have never heard anything bad about them. actually have heard nothing but good reviews from people that have bought them.

I have full size STI Spartan, very good shooter. Probably the best available at its price point. The Spartan is made for STI by Armscor (aka RIA).

I vote for a lever gun. I bought a Rossi 30-30 Rio Grande recently for around $400 if I recall right. The action is butter smooth, it cycles great and hits where I point it.

Another vote for lever action. Reason: you can almost always do more with a long gun. In this case, I would find a marlin.
