The Rail gun
This is a metal projectile shot using electro magnatism. It is traveling at such a rate that it caught the air on fire. Is this the future of artillery?

If you look close you can see it displace enough energy that is pushes the air in front of it.

Go search on YouTube. There are plenty of videos on there showing the experiments the military is conducting. The Navy appears to be the furthest along.

if i remember correctly, they have been experimenting with them for quite awhile, it's just that technology is catching up to the point they are becoming a reality, science fact instead of science fiction. i think they work on the same principal as the magnetic rail trains do. thats how some of those bullet trains can go so fast, almost 300 mph.

There is a company that has what they've called "Metal Storm" technology. Its a caseless bullet thats fired magnetically, and that fires a rate of 1,000,000rds per minute.
