Guns you wish you had kept
During a bout of ill fortune some years ago--divorce, unemployment, illness, you don't want to know--my once-extensive gun collection slipped out of my grasp. I sometimes daydream about the great guns I once owned but probably never will again. Anybody else have regrets like this?
Here are my most-mourned Top Ten: 1. Colt SAA, .44 Special, 4 3/4" barrel, nickeled 2. S&W M629, .44 Magnum, 4" barrel, stainless 3. Colt Series 70, .45 ACP, stroked & bored, blue 4. Colt (genuine) new production 1860 Army, stainless 5. Wildey .45 Magnum, engraved & nickeled 6. S&W M649, .38 Special, 2" barrel, shrouded hammer, stainless 7. Browning .22 auto rifle, blue 8. AR-15 old model (triangular handguard, no bolt assist), .223 9. HK91 fixed stock, .308 10. Winchester 9422 lever gun, .22 Magnum (There were others, but I'm out of Kleenex...) |
I wish I had held on to my USP. It was one of the last pre-ban German USPs that had the 4 way safety.

1. Remington 700 / M-40 rebuilt at Quantico and issued to a Marine in Beruit in the 80s.
2. Walther P-5 3. M-1A National Match 4. Smith Model 66 |
Wish I had kept
S&W M-67
Colt Series 70 .45 S&W M-657 2 1/2" .41 mag Bushmaster M-17S |
H&K USP 40 compact stainless/composite

Any gun that I have sold. ( not entirely but close)
The ones that I miss the most are Ruger #3 in .45-70 Winchester Model 62A (.22 slide action) |
Kept the guns and Harley, but parted with ex wives ! Wish I
had been able to keep the rifle that I shot my first deer with at age 13 (a little more than a few years ago). It was a like new Marlin 1894 carbine in 32/40 caliber, receiver was case harden. Not a tack driver, but took two Minnesota whitetails with it. It was borrowed, and I lost track of it after joining the Marine Corps!:) |
A few, which I traded. It seemed like a good idea at the time. :(
|
I sold a Springfield 03A3 that was in collector grade to a co worker for $ 75.00 because I didnt like bolt action guns. I'm kicking myself now.

Every gun I've ever parted with!
I feel sick every time I think of the ones that I let go of.....
 |
