From what I know, experience is paramount...however, I only go to one specific range, so things may very well be different for you. Good luck!!

Sometimes, knowing where to look for information is more important (and correct) than trying to remember everything.

Read as many user's manuals as possible (the info may be redundant from firearm to firearm). But, knowing some specs that can be proven in print is better than using opinions.
