How would I secure the pistol if the vendor is out of state? Will another FFL dealer hold it until I clear? I ask as I have never purchased from a gun show. Someone clue me in please.
Really not a silly question at all...
Most firearm dealers except transfers for an extra fee
So if you buy (without a permit) from an out-of-state dealer,
pick a dealer in your area that the firearm can be tranfered to.
After the waiting period you'll be able to pick-up your firearm at the local dealer you picked. Make sure you check on the amount of the transfer fee.
About 6 months ago I was with a friend at a gun show. He bought a shotgun from a dealer in Georgia. The Georgia dealer transfered it to a local dealer then my friend picked it up after the waiting period when he got off work.
FYI; his transfer fee was 50 bucks.
