Do I need to register a gun to be kept at home or taken to a shooting range

? Maybe in some states.
This will vary by location; what is yours? In MS, you don't "register" any guns for normal use. Concealed Carry Permit holders would be a bit different, i believe.

Not where I live. Call your local sheriff's department and ask them.

Most states if you buy Face to face, you dont need to. Long guns that is.
Some may require pistols, like NY, to put the new pistol on the permit.
