Amazing! I just checked Craigslist and there's an oak cabinet for $75. for sale in a nearby foothill town. I sent an email and now we'll see what happens.

The only thing is I would prefer one that displays the rifles horizontally.

Same here.

Have you considered going carpenter on this? Plexiglass for the display panels can be cut with a table saw, if you go slow. You could also build a false back in it.

I've been looking in thrift shops and used furniture stores, but just can't find one. I've looked online, but many of them are either custom or just plain overpriced.

I don't want a wall rack, I don't want them getting all dusty. That's why I'd like a cabinet. I'd like to be able to look at them without a lot of hassle.

What's the deal? Are they just unpopular or are people just paranoid and only use gun safes anymore?
Since I don't have a room I can satisfactorily secure, I went with a safe. If I had a safe room, I'd definitely go with the cabinet.

Do you know anyone who likes to do woodworking? You might be able to get them to build you one with the right incentive.

Yeah, me. But I don't have the shop tools to build it.

All things considered, it's easier and cheaper to buy a used one.
