Guess Who I Hung Out W/ Today...

Just wanted to share how my day went today. I got to spend the whole day blowing up pounds and pounds of black powder! I was invited to be a competitor at the World Anvil Shooting Competition by my father in law who has been shooting anvils competitively for many years. As if shooting anvils wasn't cool enough....

We were also spending the day with Larry the Cable Guy and his production and film crew for his Only in America show in History Channel! Shooting anvils with Larry the Cable Guy is even better! Larry was completely different than I expected. He was such a great guy. Very down to earth, polite, and humble. Off camera he really just seemed like a regular guy (which I guess he is). But he doesn't act like he does on TV. It was a pleasant surprise. As he was leaving, he must have went around and shook everyone's hand 3 or 4 times and let us know how much fun he had and thanked us for having him out.

But if that wasn't enough to brag about, I ended up taking home the trophy for the 2012 competition! Had a really amazing day today!

Well that is actually pretty damn cool. I am not a huge fan, but spending some time at the range with him could be entertaining and very rewarding.

*jealousy pooling at feet*

I have never heard of anvil shooting. I'll have to see what that's all about.

I watched a Celebrity Roast roasting Larry the Cable Guy. He was very polite, down to earth and seemed like a 'normal' guy. He seemed very loving towards his wife, too. I think he would be awesome to meet.

Congratulations on a great day.

He really was. He showed us pictures of his children. One of the other competitors had a daughter having a baby today and Larry called her and wished her well and said a lot of really nice things. He wrote my little niece a letter acting like Mater from Cars. He took lots of pictures with me and my family. Gave an autographed hat to my nephew. Just things like that all day. He and his film crew had lunch with all of us too. Just a really great guy.

In competition, you get scored on how high the anvil goes and how close it lands to the base. The further it lands, the more points deducted from your score.
