Default Government Property?

I been given an OLD beat up pair of Steiner Commander 7x50 binoculars from the estate of a friend's father. The one with the built in compass and rangefinder. Did/does all the paraphernalia the Special Forces get issued say 'Property of the U.S. Army' or some such? These don't don't have anything on them that would indicate they were government issue, just 'Steiner Commander' in white on top of the compass.

I don't know. But I would say ask C3.

actually a lot of certain Special Forces units do not have equipment with markings like that as they might be called to go into hostile countries where if a firefight happened and an operator was killed or hurt and some equipment was left behind they wouldn't want them to definitively trace it back to US causing an international uproar. This is called being sanitized.
