Just make sure you're drinking from upstream...

Default Freedom

Freedom is really not about possessing anything, but is actually being without; without self destructive ego, vindictive greed, selfishness, and missed placed pride. Losing everything you've managed to accumulate until what's always been there remains.

The old man quietly replied, "the one you feed."

ROBERT E. HOWARD

The word “barbarism” brings to mind a piece I wrote sometime back. It goes like this:

"The people whom the sophisticated nations down through the centuries have referred to
as the 'Barbarians' have always won in the end.” Author unknown

The rest of us just want to live our lives in peace and harmony with little or no interference
from the government. To be free to live our lives within the boundaries of right and wrong.
To live by the 'Golden Rule' that was printed on the foot rulers we had in grade school back
in the '40's.

But barbarians never sleep. Their whole waking life is planning, conniving, writing
laws to restrict peoples' lives, impacting peoples lives, micro-managing every detail of
what is and isn't allowed to be done, denying in each and every way possible
freedom to anyone except themselves.

To rule, to be King, to be Exalted Ruler. To control
and manipulate every facet of every living thing to some utopian view. That's the
ambition of a barbarian.

A microcosm of the barbarian's view of life is the spotted owl debacle
in Oregon. The existence of the spotted owl has been used for decades to shut down the timber industry in
Oregon. Now the existence of the barred owl has been determined to be a threat to the spotted
owl, which apparently is the chosen owl of the barbarians. The suggested solution is to take official shotguns
to the forest and lay waste to barred owls, in order to save spotted owls.

Apply this to America.

Chosen groups receive dispensation at the expense of the rest of society.

Shotguns to those not on the list.

Alas!
The barbarians always win in the end.
