Well, I create my own laws of physics in my mind, thus, this is a sound theory and I am prepared to dump a ton of money into research. You guys are going to be so jealous in a few years when I get to say, I told you so.

Had to dig, but knew I didn't imagine it.

The Puckle gun, considered the first machine gun by some, fired round bullets, but was chambered to fire square bullets against Muslim Turks.

I read somewhere else, can't locate it at the moment, that they had square bullets that they would lube in pig fat for the Muslims.

So my question for the muzzle loaders and our resident engineer is this:

I make a cube shaped bullet. I create a carbine length barrel, not round, but rectangular. My bore is essentially a square.

Here's the tricky part. I twist the whole barrel in lieu of rifling.

Will the bullet make it out of the barrel? Will the twist provide any aerodynamics at all?

And would it create a super nasty wound, nastier than HP or ball?

The only way to find out is to try it. I highly doubt the bullet will go anywhere unless you coat the inside with some kind of lube. KY comes to mind first.

Get her dirty, then clean her so she starts to respect you. When her trust is complete, she will serve you well for a lifetime!

Well, if you can make it to my private island, I'll have the form ready and waiting. Forgive the anti-aircraft fire, the Vulcan Phalanx CIWS's are automated - bring a parachute, and make sure you don't land in the water, the sharks have lasers.

I don't think the twist would do anything except slow down the cube. The effect comes from the tumble the cube will get when it leaves the barrel. I did some looking but couldn't find the acticle I read a long time ago about a semi auto rifle someone was develpoing for military use that fired a square or retangle bullet.

You wouldn't be able to make a conventional rifle to fire a square bullet. It would have to be some sort of rail gun. The problem lies with getting accuracy out of a square bullet. I don't think there is a direction you can spin it to give it more distance or accuracy. Also, I'm not sure if a square bullet would do more damage than military/hunting ammo or flat point revolver ammo being produced today. These are problems we will have to test at my private range on my private island.
