Fun with a Lawn Tractor
I picked up an old Craftsman riding mower, 13.5hp Turbo Cool engine and 42" cut, for FREE.
I removed the cutting deck and want to turn this into a little fun machine for me and the boy.
I know there are mechanically inclined members here.
What little tweeks can I do to get a little more speed out of this thing. It is a six speed.
Has anyone pimped a mower?
He ran a whole tank of gas out of it today.

tie it to a four wheeler
You need to "re-gear" it, I have no idea how.

My dad did the same thing for me when I was younger, only this mower was so old it only had one speed...slow 
I think it's a great idea, I had a ton of fun on my little tractor when I was a kid.
Just like your boy, I averaged a tank of gas per day
Do like my dad did, buy him a trailer for it. It'll teach him how to back a trailer, and maybe he'll enjoy it so much he'll think yard work is fun (as long as he's the tractor operator )

He really enjoyed that so much. It is nice to see my lil man enjoy himself like that.

Heck, there are even motorized barstool races.

If you have a belt drive, making the driving pulley bigger, or the driven pulley smaller, will increase speed, decrease torque.
Of course, there is always the Nitrous Oxide bottle.....
However- keep in mind- with the deck removed, the center of gravity just got quite a bit higher than it was- sharp cornering at higher speeds than designed for can cause you to regret the lack of a roll bar. 
Before you try this, in recognition of my effort to aid you, can you mention me in the will for a gun or two?

I am not talking racing around corners at Daytona, just a bit faster than it runs cutting grass.
Only wanting to drive around the yard a little quicker.

Start by removing the governor and putting a nice straight pipe on it. Might not go much faster but it sure will sound mean.
