Default Full auto?

Having been shoved under a rock for the past (first)20 yrs. of my life, I was under the misconception that full auto firearms are flat out banned. After a minimal amount of research, i have found several people shooting full autos online. Is there a certain liscence you need?

Not banned. You must apply with the ATF for a Class 3 tax stamp. This allows you to obtain full auto rifles, pistols and short barreled shotguns. Class 3 also allows you to obtain suppressors. You must pass an extensive federal background check to be considered and the weapons are high priced.

Do a search on the BATF web site. They have complete instructions.
