Nope, rimmed. I do not think there is currently a non-R version (if there ever was). The European model is to designate rimmed cartriges as "R", even if there is no rimless equivalent.

It would be easier if we did the same thing, IMHO. There would be no .307 Win. It would be called the .308R

Is this similar to the pressure issue of 5.56 firearms shooting .223, but not the other way around?
Can not and should not are very different terms. "Can" you shoot a .308 cartridge in a 7.62 X 51 chamber? Yes. Is it a good idea? It depends on the rifle. I have never heard of a rifle damaged by such a swap, but the CETME/HK rifles can and often times do experience case head separations when shooting commercial .308 ammo in them.
The FAL's with their adjustable gas system are probably more suited to this swap (You FAL guys feel free to interject).
I hear mixed opinions in the M-14/M1A rifles and the AR-10's.

HOWEVER....I would strongly discourage one from shooting Hornaday's Light Magnum or other supercharged .308 in a mil-type semi auto.

Anealing brass does NOT need to involve quenching. The quenching is simply for ease of handling and to prevent the heat from anealing the case head, which needs to stay hard. I aneal all rifle brass larger than .223/5.56.

Case life depends on chamber dimensions, load pressure, case thickness, exact alloy of the brass. Straight wall cases will generally last much longer than bottleneck cases.

Does anybody know if an EMP will have a big impact on unplugged/unpowered electronic devices? Some movies have made it appear so (broken arrow), but i have no idea myself.
-I am not an EMP expert-
EMP stands for, Electric Magnetic Pulse, and the purpose is to create a large pulse that will force to much electricity through circuits and such. This harms ALL electronics devices, but wall outlets and such should be fine. I am unsure, but it might overload your breaker box and the transformers. So you will still be **** out of luck.
What I heard was if you make a box covered in metal (like aluminum) and box concrete on the inside then everything inside should be protected because the metal plating will capture the pulse.
My question is, what should you do with all of that electricity, make a lightning rod?

Really there is no such thing as a 7.62x54Rmm cartridge. It is really a 7.62x53Rmm As the case is truly 53mm in length.

Yes, there is a non-magnum .357. It is called the .38 Special (it is really .357, and the parent case of .357 Mag) and there is a .357 Short (so to speak)- the .38 Short Colt.

EMP- the military spends BIG bucks hardening critical items agaisnt EMP. Aluminum foil ain't gonna do it if the energy levels are high enough. Plugged in items get the biggest zap- power lines act as an antenna to collect energy. One H Bomb test in the Pacific burned out STREETLIGHTS in Honolulu. Things that use NON solid state electronics will survive higher energy levels that things with chips, transistors, etc. Breaker point ignition, tubes in electronics, etc. And about the computer in your car, and your watch, your electronic sight......

Re: Glaser- it is part of Cor-Bon- located in Sturgis. Yeah, THAT Sturgis. Why not call them and ask? Named for the creator of the round. Although if a gun shop ninja told me his GLAH-ZERs were over there, I would ask him where they keep their Crimson Trace LAH-SERs.

It is legal to poach eggs, so that the salmon does not get lonely.
