First off, thank you for your crate donation and your involvement in this mercy mission. Your obviously a huge lover of animals.

Second, I have found it extremely easy to do a dog toy cleaning by loading everything hard into the dishwasher and everything soft into the clothes washer. Fill the dishwasher's detergent dispenser with baking soda and you get a chemical-free, disinfecting wash that makes them like new. Same in the washing machine - 1/2 - 1 cup of baking soda and no other detergents or fabric softener and they come out of dryer clean as a whistle! Remove Bounce dryer bar before dryer, if you have same.

That is a beautiful, healthy-looking beagle, btw.

Thank you for the kind words Greg, it means a lot...

I am an animal lover...( I love anything that doesn't talk... )...and who you callin' huge? I'm festively plump!!

Good tips on the cleaning, Katie is raw fed and I'm very cautious to keep her away from anything with chemicals in it, like dryer sheets/detergent, processed dog food, etc...Never occurred to me to use baking soda...duh...I brush my teeth with it occasionally...

I really appreciate all the kudos but that's not why I wanted to help. Toby's story hit a nerve with me and I was lucky enough to be in a position to help, that's enough thanks for me...

Thank you for the kind words though, one and all...[very grateful]...

I feel Toby is everyone's dog since so many stepped forward to help. Though I'm pretty sure I'll be the only one picking up dog poop in the yard.

The last glitch I have to deal with is I believe any crate Toby gets shipped in will not fit in my little car. I have a couple friends with SUV's I'm going to ask to drive me to the airport. They can drop be off and drive away and I'll call them when I'm ready to be picked up after retrieving Toby.

No,..He's my 4-legged. If I didn't pick up after him In my Back Yard it would be a health hazard. In the street on the rare timnes he out walking around in 100+ degree heat if it's not bagged it's a fine from the HOA....

Depending on the day and time, I'm in and out of O'Hare on a regular basis. I'm in Lake Co so I could also meet you there and drive out to your place if I'm in town. I have more than enough room for the crate. I own a Newf! Let me know when the time comes.

The other thought is the crate should come apart and fit inside itself if Toby can just hang out free in the car. That would probably fit your car. Or in the trunk with a bungie cord - the crate, not the dog

Gator has that "c'mon Dad let's go do something" look in his eyes.
