First-Person-Shooters

have any of you (no doubt in my mind) played any First-Person-Shooter video games? Such as Doom, Halo, or Call of Duty...

The last good game that came out was Half-Life 2.

I have played Doom and Doom II, Call of Duty ( I have several ), and all of the Medal of Honor series for the PS2 and the PSP. My personal preference is for the MOH as I like the game engine better. Not as good on the PSP, but not bad either.

I first started using “first person shooter games” with Wolfenstein 3D in 1992. I was living in Montana and it was a fun diversion when the weather turned to 40 below for weeks at a time.

Since then I have used Doom, NAM, Platoon, Vietnam Black Ops, MOH, and Call of Duty.

Since I am retired, I have been able play the games and also getting plenty of real shooting done – I buy milsurp ammo by the case.

The best FPS game ever was and is Unreal Torunament 2004. Where ele can you have a hand held thermo nuk, a handheld minigun, a handheld flak cannon and tanks?

I have played MOH ( Medel of honor ) with friends at work but it has been a while since the last time.

For those of you who are gamers and gun enthusiasts, how do you feel about the media's link between FPSs and gun violence?

I know that when I was a kid, I was taught firearm safety by my father and again in Boy Scouts. FPSs were nothing more than a way for me to burn off time when the weather was nasty.

I don't think there is a media link between games and gun violence. But there IS a link between games and violence.

It's not a straight one-lead-to-another link, though, so you can't just say that playing a violent game will make someone violent.

Kinda like you can't just say that if a kid sees Elvis shake his hips, (s)he'll turn into a sex-crazed maniac.
