If you like Scotch, save up your money and try one bottle per year of really good single Malt.
My faves are:
Oban..Distillers Edition ~$85
Caol Ila 18 YO ~$115
Clynelish 14 YO ~$65
There are many I haven't tried because these three are so good (IMHO) that whenever I have money in the sock drawer I get one of them
Ya don't drink this to get smashed. One or two drinks per month when you feel the need for something really special.

I like Laphroig 10 year old single malt scotch. I currently have none, but do have most of a bottle of Civas Regal 18 year old, and most of a bottle of Johnny Walker Blue. I prefer the Chivas of the two. On the other hand, a good dark beer is always a treat.

Favorite Hard Liquor is Single Barrel Jack Danial's from the freezer, a splash of water and a couple cubes.
Favorite Beer is tougher, according to the season/ temperature is what I drink. Slightly chilled Heavier Darker and yeasty Weizen Beers in the winter, very cold Ices and Pilsner's in the summer. Brands are hard to pick one of. I like most of the Saranacs (local brewery) but love a good German brew and some of the Canadians.
What I dont like- White liquor (too many bad memories and hangovers from them), Beer with chocolate, fruit or other non beer flavorings (Beer should taste like beer, Coffee the same way), Sweet Wines or liquors!

I don't drink a lot but when I do it is almost always Beer. Bud, Bud Light, Miller, Newcastle Brown, Boddingtons, etc. I like most Beers apart from Stouts.
I do drink an occasional glass of wine and the odd Bacardi and Coke.

On the extremely rare occasions when I drink beer, I like a bitter ale, porter or stout served cool, but not cold.
To really appreciate a good Scotch or Bourbon, serve it in a glass with about two teaspoons of filtered water to bring out the nose, and slowly sip it.
Ice numbs the taste buds and prevents you from tasting the subtle flavors.
