Default the fallen

Those you know. Let's give them tribute.

Staff Sergeant Justus Bartelt.
Fallen this day, July 16, 2010, Helmand province Afghanistan. From Polo Illinois. Great friend, great Marine. Good for a laugh no matter what.

Trip, good idea for a thread. we need to remember and honor those who have fallen in service of our country. too many times we pay tribute to celebrities who have died, when too many of our countries soldiers fail to be reconized for the ultimate sacrifice they have made.

honor and respect to all those who have fallen. God Bless You.

Army PFC Nathan Frigo.
4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson. He was from Kokomo, IN. He was killed when his vehicle was hit by an explosive in Iraq in October of 2006. He was my cousin from my previous marriage and was only 23 years old. He is deeply missed by his family.

It's a small world and an even smaller Corps
There have been way too damn many great young men lost in this bull crap war. Incidentally, I don't know any old men who have been lost, maybe that's part of the problem.

I got the idea for starting this thread from a Facebook page, every day they do a casualty report, reminding us of the Marines lost on that date. Yesterday was Justus' day.

Yeah it is sad and I fear that we're going to lose many more if the higher ups don't get their head out of their a$$ and realize there is no working with these people. We are training people and they are turning around and killing us, it makes no sense to continue to do it. I remember that day like it was yesterday. His mom took it really hard. I didn't know Justus, but I think the whole town was at his funeral and he seemed like a really good guy.

Real freaking barn burner this thread is...

Not fallen, but a singer I like. Read his bio. He was attached to my unit in Afghanistan.
http://www.google.com/search?site=&source=hp&ei=isaKUcmzJ5G08QSe0IDYAQ&q=Stephen+Cochran&oq=Stephen+Cochran&gs_l=mobile-gws-hp.3..0l5.6402.9211.0.10413.4.3.0.1.1.0.543.1056.5-2.2.0...0.0...1c.1.12.mobile-gws-hp.dKE9tmgMmeg
Here's a song he wrote.

Here's a little about the man he wrote it for. Cochran tells the story of his death during the interview, and I'll tell you now, what Corporal Payne endured before succumbing to his injuries, meaning the amount of injury itself that he took and continued to fight, and yes, he fought, is the stuff of legend. He was a man after God, but fought like the devil himself to get his friend to safety. This is a just a little more about his life.

There was also vengeance for this man.
