The only story I have like this happened in my dorm last semester.

So, it's Finals Week and a few of us Resident Advisors are sitting in the our Resident Directors room hanging out, listening to music, and helping out anyone in the dorm who needed to find their finals schedules, etc. etc.

Well, this guy, let's call him Bill, walks in while we're all talking about some of our old scars and how we got them. As he came in, I was telling the guys about some of mine. I have a 2" scar on my neck from a Lymph Node Biopsy that I got in the 4th grade, a small 1/4 inch one on my lip where my mom's old cocker spaniel bit clean through...

And then I showed them a small cluster of scars on my forearm where I was hit by some birdshot. Some of my friends in NY and I were exiting a Sporting Clays course via the back exit that was supposed to be taped off as it was in front of the skeet range.

As we came out, we were pelted and 5 or 6 BBs got stuck in the left forearm. After hearing this, Will (A 6ft, 350lb "Juggalo" [google it]) chimes in by saying that over summer he was in Kansas City to go to his friends funeral who was shot in a gang related incident. We all thought it plausible as Kansas City can be rough and "Juggalos" could do that sort of thing...well, apparently his story was spicier than we thought.

Bill says that while he was there in KC, he left a movie theater one night and supposedly some members of the gang recognized him and started shooting at him from across the street and that a slug ricoheted and hit him in the back of the calf.

We all thought it was awful..we never had a reason to not believe him...well, we asked him to show us the scar because we had all shown ours and we got this response.

"Well thats the thing! The doctors said it was amazing...I had to get surgery to remove the bullet but there isn't a scar!"

At that moment we all called BS as me and two other guys had minor and major surgeries and they ALL left scars and we knew full well that pulling out a hunk of metal that supposedly ripped through your calf would leave a scar...

He moved dorms....

many pathological liars are like that. they feel the need to tell lies to be better than others, and many do this because they have no self esteem and want to desperately to fit in. and for some the only way is to lie about what they have done. really it's sad they feel the need to do this.

you know as well as i do, there have been some just like this here on the forum. and when they get caught in their lies, they lose a lot of credibility.
Exactly!!

I will usually politely explain that this a very rude question to ask. It's also a question that will probably result in a lie because "some" of those who have not taken life "may" feel the need to impress them, while those who have...are most likely not interested in discussing it with anyone.
Never would I ask a veteran that question. Never.

A guy in high school ran into Michael Jackson in the mall, and had a nice 5 minute talk with him. No crowd around him at all...

A guy at a fish fry at a gun club talking about his super rare swiss k31, which shot super powerful 4500fps ammo. He couldn't find a range that accepted that much power.

A guy a work, "joe", always talked about being a badass. He came in all pizzed off, saying 5 guys in another car were messing with him at a stoplight. He said he got out with a baseball bat and threatened to kill them all, they shut up and stared straight ahead.
Then mark said no way, you didn't. Joe said it really happened just like that. Mark said huh uh, I was in that car. The silence was defening, then giggles got louder. Joe stormed off, and has been known as "Batman" for over ten years now.

years ago i worked with a guy, and i will call him "David". well David was more a wannabe than Topper, but almost as bad. whenever anyone got something new, he had to announce he was going to get one as well. in 2000 i bought a used 1998 H-D Softail Custom. well guess what? David annouces to all of us at break time that night, that he was going to go and buy a H-D! now mind you this guy is definately a wuss and has to ask his wife for permission to do anything, and i mean anything! now fast forward three years later to 2003. i was going through a minor mid-life crisis and just hit 40, so i go and buy myself a new 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 reg. cab, swb truck as a birthday present to myself. at the same time i was also going through my second divorce and was kind of feeling a little low. well guess what again? you guessed it! David announced at work that evening when some of the guys were checking out my new truck, that he was going to go and buy himself a new truck! he always said the same thing anytime someone got a new vehicle or a new motorcycle or even a new tool. gonna go out and buy me one!

BTW, it's 2013 and David is still driving the 1988 Chevy truck he was driving in 1999 when i went to work there! i ran into him a few months ago at a local store and he saw me and had to admire my newer truck, and guess what? yep, you guessed it! he was going to go and buy him a new truck! i politely told him that he had been saying that for over 10 years and his wife would never allow him to buy something new. he just hung his head.

Well... I'm pretty sure the statute of imitations has expired, so I can talk about this now. Probably the most surprising episode was when I was flying out of one of the auxiliary fields of Nellis AFB in Nevada called Area 57. Most people have heard about Area 51, but that place was really just for show. It was a decoy. Area 57 is where the real action was going on.

Anyway, I was scheduled for a mission over North Korea. As I was prepping in the ops shack, a couple men came in: dark suits, sunglasses. Yes there really are Men in Black. They cleared the room and then a third came in who was obviously the one in charge. He handed me a new mission folder and told me plans had changed. I was now flying to Ramstein AFB in Germany with a passenger. The passenger was never mentioned anywhere in the folder which was SAP for these kinds of missions, but all the other info was there. I was to deliver the "package" to a secret meeting in Ramstein. Refuel and prep the Sled for a quick return within 24 hours with the "package" in tow back to Nellis.

This wasn't really anything new. I had flown these kinds of missions hundreds of times. But then in walks the "package". Now you've heard this story denied time and time and time again. But I can tell you for a fact that it actually happened. My high-value asset was none other than, at that time, former CIA Director and candidate for Vice President of the United States, George H. W. Bush.

Yes, the October surprise did actually happen. I was the driver.
