I know a few, a lot of them on the river. The most stand out one is a fellow, let's call him Bob.
Bob tells outlandish tales, he is 24 or 23, has been a lobster fisherman, worked boats in New York, deep blue boats, been to a university, has a $100,000 masters degree in business managed public relations at a major hotel in Lexington, Ky, yada yada yada.
What most sticks in my mind, is he claims to be sponsored my Monster Energy for dirt bike racing, yet works on a tow boat. Has the stickers on all his rides. Will tell you about the massive bank account that he has, yet has run out of gas because he was broke.
The funniest part is lying about his position at work. We started 6 months apart of each other here at this company, he has told me that he was a "leadman" then a "2nd mate" and now a "mate." I'm a 2nd mate, I worked my ass off to get it in the time frame that I have. A close friend of mine, my old senior mate, is now a "port mate," office personnel now basically. He just got off the boat with Bob. Bob is still a senior deckhand. 3 levels below what he claims.
Why would you lie about something so easy to figure out?

I work with one who is a liar and exaggerates EVERything!!!!! If you say you played softball in high school, he'll tell you about how he was the all-star athlete at his. I have a Masters Degree from Purdue but he is OBSESSED with a big ten school which I won't say to keep this a little anonymous, but he says my degree doesn't count because it's not from where he got his Bachelors. He's always talking about how people at other schools are begging him to come teach there or coach when I know for a fact that they aren't because I know people there. He's just a big joke. He's talks loud as hell and tells the same stories or lying versions thereof over and over and over.......,,Soooooo annoying and I have to work closely with him. Uggghhhhh. He obviously has no self esteem and needs to feel important of an inverted penis.
